Cirencester Golf Club…

…was once again filled with friendly competition, laughter and generosity as more than 200 players, sponsors, volunteers and supporters came together for the 2026 Macmillan Charity Golf Day.

Held on 12th June, the event delivered another remarkable result: an incredible £30,600 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support – narrowly edging past last year’s total.

While the golf itself provided plenty of excitement throughout the day, the real success story was the collective effort of everyone involved. From businesses sponsoring holes and prizes, to teams taking part and volunteers working behind the scenes, the event demonstrated what can be achieved when we all come together for an important cause.

The funds raised will help Macmillan continue providing practical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer and their families. To put the impact into perspective, £30,600 could fund a Macmillan Support Worker for 9 months, support a Macmillan Nurse for more than 5 months, or help the Macmillan Support Line respond to hundreds of over 500 calls and web enquiries from people seeking guidance during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

As always, Cirencester Golf Club provided the perfect setting for the occasion. The team there played a huge part in ensuring the day ran smoothly, delivering the warm welcome and excellent hospitality that participants have come to expect year after year.

On the course, over 50 teams battled it out for the top spot, with Cotswold Golf Society claiming first place with an impressive score of 83. They were closely followed by Trolley Bandits in second place, and Oprema in third. Individual competitions throughout the day also produced some outstanding performances, adding an extra layer of friendly rivalry to the event.

What makes the Macmillan Golf Day particularly special is the community that has grown around it over the years. Many familiar faces return each summer, while new players, sponsors and supporters continue to join the event. The result is a day that combines competitive golf with a shared commitment to making a difference.

The continued popularity of the event speaks for itself. Places for next year’s Golf Day, taking place on Friday 11th June 2027, have already been filled, with a waiting list now in place.

Everyone involved would like to thank the sponsors, players, volunteers and supporters whose generosity made this year’s record-breaking total possible. Every contribution, whether large or small, helped create an unforgettable day and will make a genuine difference to people affected by cancer across our local communities.

Photos from the day can be viewed in our Macmillan Charity Golf Day gallery, capturing some of the many memorable moments from another outstanding event.

We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved together and look forward to building on this success in 2027.
